We’ve been making windows more beautiful
for over 100 years. In fact, it’s a family tradition.
When family patriarch Joseph Perkowitz Sr. gave up his
occupation of repairing parasols and started a new business—manufacturing
window shades, the year was 1891. His intuition told him
he was making the right move. Chicago had recently rebuilt
after the Great Fire and was continuing to grow. Still,
Joseph Sr. had no idea he was creating a family business
tradition that would still be going strong 100 years later.
Today, we think Joseph Sr. would be proud. The tradition
continues with the family operating seven Outlook Window
Fashion Stores in the Chicago area. |
 |
 |
 |
| In 1943, Joseph’s young son William
joined the company and, with his creativity and keen eye
for changing trends, he helped expand the business in
every direction. The wider variety of styles brought enormous
growth and success. |
 |
 |
 |
| Several years later, William’s wife
Barbara had an idea that would expand the company once
again: Her plan to sell directly to the public was simple
yet revolutionary--giving customers an opportunity to
buy top-quality merchandise for the best possible prices. |
 |
 |
 |
Today the company is looking ahead, planning
more improvements than ever. Our newly expanded workroom
in Gurnee is the first step towards that goal. We are
also expanding our delivery services, and offering a wider
variety of new designs.
Still, some things will never change: Our family’s
dedication to providing customers with quality craftsmanship,
great service and outstanding value. Because those things
are much more than a way of doing business—they’re
a family tradition. |

Who would have guessed that 24 years later Mr. Perkowitz’s
son, William would marry Mr. Meyers’ daughter Barbara
and continue the family tradition? |
